Godot Rumble 3 Jam Entry (Theme: Cosmic Beings)

Controls: A - Left | D - Right

Game Genre:

Procedural text-based adventure (Ok, what else am I going to make in 3 hours with an unfamiliar engine?)


Game Story:

You are a soul. You got killed and now you're in the in-between Realm of the Cosmic Beings and thus begins your Trials of Rebirth. Answer the questions from each of the Five Cosmic Beings that regulate the Universe:

"Lux" - God of Clarity - Illuminator of truth and dissolver of lies.
"Fauxlin" - God of Counterfeits - Master of fake quotes. 
"Lykos" - God of Wilderness - Patron of primal instincts and survival.
"Arithmos" - God of Sacred Algorithms - Overseer to the numerical order.
"Virtuon" - God of Righteousness - Embodiment of cosmic justice and virtue. 

Earn the rights of Rebirth once more.


What I found cool about Godot:

-Emit signals for events, prefabs are scenes, everything is modular design


What I disliked about Godot:

-Instead of adding components to game objects (a.k.a. 'nodes' in Godot), you add child nodes, and when referencing these nodes it can get messy when you have 100 nodes (components). It could grow on me eventually though.


About the Game Jam:

-I'm new to Godot, and familiar with Unity, just trying Godot out

-I didn't time my hours exactly, probably went to 4+ hours, a lot of it was troubleshooting syntax errors

I replayed the game because I found the questions and responces interesting. I like that the questions have some variation between playthroughs! I also like the little bubbles on the character, the persona-like cards for the cosmic beings, and the rotating skybox in the background.

I intentionally answered the fake quote question on my second playthrough wrong, but I was told that I answered it correctly.

For the short ammount of development time this had, I really enjoyed the project.

I was dying to know who the last being was at the very end of the level and was hoping if I got a high enough score that a bridge would form, but I could not get a high enough score. However, I did enjoy giving silly answers during one playthrough since I had the open-ended prompts.
